Upcoming six-part chilling serial killer drama The Dark, starring Laura Donnelly and Mark Rowley. The series is adapted for television from GR Halliday’s debut novel, From the Shadows.

When the body of a young man is found eerily staged in the idyllic Scottish
wilderness, detective Monica Kennedy fears this is just the beginning of a terrifying
campaign that will strike the heart of a rural community. As paranoia rises,
suspicions and secrets are forced into the light, and the locals start to realise that
there is a serial killer hidden amongst them.
With her experience of dealing with the darkest of humanity, Monica Kennedy quickly becomes entangled in a heightened game of cat and mouse with a cunning killer.
Only she can stop this monster before he claims any more victims. But when her
own history creeps up on her, she begins to lose trust in her own judgement. Will it
be her own actions that are the biggest risk to herself and her family?
Episode 1
DI Monica Kennedy’s family day out, is brought to an abrupt end when a mysterious
woman from Monica’s past shows up. With the threat of this reappearance hanging
over her, Monica is called into investigating a chilling crime with her new partner - DC Connor Crawford. A naked corpse of a young man in his late teens is discovered, posed in the middle of a remote Scottish glen.
Episode 2
When a second body is discovered, Detective Kennedy begins to look for links
between the victims which could give her an insight into the killer’s M.O. A link
between the parents of the victims emerges - they are both employed by the local
sawmill, and this discovery leads them to look into the owner’s son, Owen
MacLennan, who has his own chequered past. But is he the killer they’re after?
Episode 3
Despite getting to his house before the killer leaves, DI Kennedy is ultimately too late to save the third victim. However, she does find a clue to the next intended victim and has to battle to discover his whereabouts before it’s too late. But just when it seems Monica has saved the young man, it becomes clear that the killer is actually playing with her.
Episode 4
After the attempted murder of another young man, Monica wonders why the killer
failed this time? The return of Nichol Morgan, brother of the first victim, sends
shockwaves through his family. Monica investigates Scott’s employer, a man
suspected to be behind a few cold cases, but a tragedy occurs when they confront
him. Monica lures the killer to a remote location but is shocked by a familiar face
instead.
Episode 5
The killer escapes when Monica’s distracted by saving Philly. Nichol realises his
mum is having an affair with Stephen. Desperate, Monica uses a press conference
to provoke the killer. Nichol tells Barclay about Bethany’s affair and he attacks
Stephen, leading to his arrest. Monica gets information which points to James being the killer and they arrest him. Monica goes home but wakes to discover that the killer has claimed another victim.
Episode 6
Reeling from Philly’s murder and knowing that it was intended as a message directly from the killer, Monica attempts to put her family's safety first. But when the killer’s identity is discovered and she has the opportunity to save his final victim, Monica races into action. Meanwhile, Nichol attempts to finally get his mother to leave her husband and consider a future without him.
