This brand-new six-part series sees six pairs of contestants attempt to track down the biggest brains in Britain - all six of The Chasers - in undisclosed locations around the globe. Unravelling puzzles along the way, the winning pair will pit their knowledge against The Chasers in order to win a life-changing prize pot.

First up - it’s the eternal city - Rome. The Chasers - The Beast and The Governess - have set a series of quiz questions, puzzles and cryptic clues that the teams must solve in order to navigate their way across the city and find Bradley at the finish line.

Their route could take them to some of Rome’s iconic landmarks, such as the Colosseum, the Trevi fountain and the Spanish Steps. The teams must answer questions correctly to complete the course but they better be correct as wrong answers have serious consequences, costing them time and taking them off-course.

Competition is fierce as the team that finishes last in each city will face a head-to-head showdown with the Chasers themselves. In Rome, the Beast and The Governess await. The final pair will need to beat them to stay in the competition. Lose, and it’s the first flight home.

The Chase Around the World commission builds on the global phenomenon of the most successful and enduring quiz show format, The Chase. Commissioned in 22 territories worldwide, including the US, with spin-off Beat The Chasers in 11, the series recently celebrated an incredible 17 years on ITV and has been the recipient of numerous awards.

Bradley Walsh said: “This bold new take on The Chase combines quizzing with travelling and will test contestants’ knowledge like never before. The Chasers are already famous around the world, so fans can look forward to seeing them ply their trade in some superb secret locations.”

Lily Wilson, Managing Director, Bright Entertainment comments: “What better way to launch Bright Entertainment - not only with the news of our inaugural commission, but a reimagining of one of the most successful television quiz formats. The Chase Around the World is a fittingly global evolution for an iconic format, developed and being produced by a great team. We look forward to launching the series later this year and it being the first of many more exciting formats to come.”

Meanwhile, Beat The Chasers has been recommissioned for an eighth series to air this year. Beat The Chasers sees individuals take on all six Chasers - The Governess, The Vixen, The Menace, The Dark Destroyer, The Beast and The Sinnerman - in the hope of winning a huge cash prize.

To build a cash pot, the contestants have to answer multiple choice questions - get the first one wrong, and they are out, but answer one or more correctly and they get to face the Chasers, who offer time and money in order to take them on.

If the contestants get all Cash Builder questions right, they are given a super offer to face all the Chasers for up to £600,000 - the endgame is a nail-biting head-to-head race against the clock.

Run out of time before the Chasers and the contestants go home with nothing, but if the Chasers run out of time before them, they will win the money for their nominated charities. With Bradley Walsh as our presenter, is anyone good enough to take on the greatest quiz team that ever lived?

The Chase Around The World begins Thursday 16th July on ITV1.
