Neighbours: The Finale | Preview (Channel 5)

Channel 5 will mark the end of Australian soap Neighbours on Friday 29th July with two special programmes, plus the finale itself. Details on the three main events below.

Neighbours: The Finale

In the first of the final two episodes, Jane gives Mike a tour of all the Ramsay Street houses before they go under the hammer. As old feelings stir, Clive’s jealousy leads to a shocking confrontation.

As Toadie and Melanie’s wedding gets underway, Terese and Paul confront their unresolved feelings. Then, in the finale, as friends and family gather for Toadie and Melanie’s wedding, Ramsay Street has some magic in store for everyone.

Neighbours: What Happened Next

In 1988, nearly 20 million British viewers tuned in to see the wedding of the nation’s favourite sweethearts Charlene and Scott (Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan).

Although viewers may not have realised that they would go on to storm the charts and tread the boards in the West End, we hear from their colleagues who spotted their drive and determination in those early days.

The programme also tells the story of Delta Goodrem (who portrayed Nina Tucker), whose phenomenal music career was kick started by the show when her storyline saw her singing her own songs.

Featuring exclusive interviews with the cast and crew, including Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Annie Jones (Jane Harris), Ryan Moloney (Toadie), Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy), Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) and their exceptional casting producer Jan Russ.

Neighbours Greatest Hits

While megastar Kylie Minogue (Charlene) struck it lucky from the off and stormed the charts across the decades, posterboy Jason Donovan (Scott) gave fans at least Ten Good Reasons to swoon.

Meanwhile, in the southern hemisphere, Delta Goodrem (Nina) conquered the Aussie charts, raking in nine No 1 singles. And though some would become music mainstays, others would light up the charts in a slightly shorter blaze of glory.

Who could forget Stefan Dennis (Paul) and his leather jacket in the video for Don’t It Make You Feel Good? Or songstress Holly Valance (Flick) dishing out her Kiss Kiss kisses?

Or even 1990s Natalie Imbruglia (Beth) tearing the house down with Torn? But not everyone went it alone: Natalie Bassingthwaighte (Izzy) joined electropunks Rogue Traders to score a UK No 3 with Voodoo Child.

Neighbours: The Finale airs Friday 29th July from 9pm on Channel 5.
