Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing | Series 7 Preview (BBC Two)

The 8x30 series will have even more of a personal edge, with each fishing location chosen by its relevance to Paul or Bob personally, following the broad journeys of their lives.

Each episode takes a wide ranging theme about life which Paul and Bob discuss, often sharing very personal insights and experiences with each other. Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing is one of the strongest brands on BBC Two, with more than a fifth of the viewers of the last series watching it on iPlayer

In the first episode, Paul and Bob are fishing for tench - a fish they have not targeted since the first series. They arrive at Rocklands Mere, a secluded hidden gem in the quaint village of Rocklands St Peter and settle down to fish.

After a pretty perfect first day at the lakes, they decide to reward themselves with a pint in a lovely Norfolk pub, The Brisley Bell - where Bob reveals they are staying overnight, much to Paul's delight. Later, Dr Anand Patel pays them a visit by the lake.

Earlier this year the BBC announced it had also commissioned an eighth series. BBC Commissioning Editor Patrick McMahon, said: “We’re so happy to welcome Paul and Bob back for another slice of fishing, friendship and riverbank philosophy. Following their adventures and spending time in their company is always a treat, and this series promises to be the most personal and pleasurable yet”.

Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing returns Sunday 22nd September at 9pm on BBC Two.
