George Clarke's Amazing Spaces: First Homes | Preview (Channel 4)
George Clarke returns with a new series that celebrates small-space builders. The series will again follow people across Britain who are finding inventive ways to create beautiful spaces that don't blow the budget and can completely transform lives.

With unquenchable enthusiasm, architect George invites viewers to let their imaginations run wild as he celebrates the extraordinary world of small design spaces and unique builds: secret hideaways, space-saving retreats, eco-friendly bolt holes and reconditioned vehicles. He shows that with careful planning, cunning design and masses of imagination, the unachievable is conceivable.
In this new series, George Clarke turns his attention to the British housing crisis, with tens of thousands of people unable to afford a traditional bricks-and-mortar home.
From buses to boats, and from toilet blocks to tiny homes, George meets proactive individuals who are fighting to put a roof over their heads and succeeding with hard work, determination and some clever left-field thinking. In this first episode, George meets a woman who is having a tiny eco-home handcrafted for her in Wales, and a 17-year-old who plans to single-handedly turn an old refrigerated lorry into his first home, on the ridiculously small budget of just £5k.
George also heads to the Netherlands to see what lessons he can learn from how the country is solving its housing issues. He visits a community where people can build whatever they like, without any planning restraints, and discovers a stunning result, in the form of a rotating house.
George also visits a country-style home cleverly squeezed into a narrowboat, and a horse trailer re-imagined as a stunning living space complete with a sauna bath, a country kitchen and an ingenious bed that can be raised or lowered at the touch of a button.
Amazing Spaces returns Friday 17th September at 8pm on Channel 4.
