A piercingly funny and utterly heart-warming screenwriting debut from two of the UK’s most exciting voices, actors Aimee Lou Wood (Daddy Issues, Sex Education, White Lotus S3) and Ralph Davis (House of the Dragon 2, Big Boys S3, Othello), Film Club is made by Gaumont (Obsession, Locked In, The Wives) for BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.

Nabhaan Rizwaan (Kaos, In Camera) and Suranne Jones (Vigil, Doctor Foster) have joined the cast for the BBC's forthcoming romantic comedy-drama Film Club. Alongside BAFTA award-winning co-creator Aimee Lou Wood, who was previously announced as playing Evie, Nabhaan Rizwan will star in Film Club as Noa.

Suranne Jones will play Suz, Evie’s eccentric and unconventional mother. Also joining the cast are Adam Long (Happy Valley, Masters Of The Air) as Evie’s boyfriend Josh and Liv Hill (Three Girls, The Serpent Queen) as her sister, Izzie. Co-creator Ralph Davis will play Dominic, Film Club’s newest member.

Friday night. 7pm. Film Club Week 198. Evie hasn’t left the house in six months after a ‘wobble’, and Film Club is her escape. A weekly chance to create a world of wonder, deck the garage out in whatever the movie calls for and spend a few uninterrupted hours with Noa - her best friend and one of the few mates who still shows up.

But tonight, things are different. Noa’s got big news. A dream job is taking him across the other side of the country, which means that all of this is ending. That reality is hitting. That they’re going to be forced to consider for the first time they might be more than just friends. Neither of them are the best when it comes to emotions but this time those emotions might be impossible to ignore.

As if life weren’t challenging enough already, Evie is going to be navigating this amongst the eccentricity of her family home - living with her fiercely loving single mum Suz, sister Izzie, and handsome boyfriend/sometime man of the house Josh.

Film Club is a witty and emotional show about love and family, about whether we should follow our hearts or heads, and being in love with a friend.

Episode 1: Best friends Evie and Noa have watched films together since they first met. But now Noa has news which is set to change everything.

Episode 2: While Noa attends a taster day for his new job in Bristol, Evie pulls out all the stops for Film Club – there’s a lot riding on tonight.

Episode 3: Evie’s still reeling from the message she saw on Noa’s phone. But when the two are left alone together, something extraordinary happens. Is it the start of a new journey for Evie?

Episode 4: While Evie throws herself headlong at life, Suz and Josh worry it’s too much, too soon. Meanwhile, Noa realises he has to face up to his feelings...

Episode 5: Her world rocked, Evie has retreated to the safety of the garage. But with a new understanding, Suz and Izzie create a unique version of Film Club to bring back Evie’s smile.

Episode 6: Noa didn’t want a big goodbye, but now the day’s finally come for him to leave, will Evie let him go that easily? It’s not the only big decision she has to face...

Film Club begins Tuesday 7th October at 10pm on BBC Three.
