Ben Fogle: New Lives In The Wild | Series 20 Preview (5)

Ben Fogle journeys to the African continent to meet Aleks, a Norwegian model who now resides in the deserts of Botswana.

Upon arrival, Aleks introduces him to her adopted family - the Ju’/hoansi people who have called southern Africa home for hundreds of thousands of years. Ben is welcomed with a traditional greeting and quickly put to work, helping to assemble bush fences to protect against desert lions.

Naturally curious about how a Scandinavian model from much colder climates ended up in Botswana, Ben learns of Aleks's incredible journey that took her from Europe to the US, and eventually to Africa.

Her newfound purpose becomes evident, accompanied by the revelation that her life has undergone yet another dramatic change over the past year—she has married the owner of a nearby safari camp.

As Ben observes the profound bond Aleks has formed with the Ju’/hoansi people, he is deeply moved, though stunned to learn that they were once hunted as game. On his final evening, on the vast expanse of the salt pans, Aleks opens up about her journey of love — not only for the continent but also for the man who has become the love of her life.
