BBC Radio 4’s Political Thinking with Nick Robinson will see its series run extended to 36 episodes, with the studio interviews airing on BBC Two regularly for the first time.

The Political Thinking with Nick Robinson podcast, first established in 2017, will be broadcast in a regular lunchtime slot on BBC Two on Fridays during its run, as well as it being available on BBC iPlayer, and in its usual slot on BBC Radio 4. This a testament to the success of the podcast, most recently with former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, which was his first broadcast interview since leaving No 10.

In the last series, guests on Political Thinking ranged from Kim Leadbeater, the backbencher piloting Assisted Dying legislation through the Commons; the Chancellor Rachel Reeves; the president of the CBI Rupert Soames; the commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Mark Rowley to the chief inspector of prisons Charlie Taylor.

Nick Robinson says: "Now more than ever there's a need to get beyond the soundbite and the shareable clip to understand what explains the views of those who shape our lives - their backgrounds, their stories, their values. I'm delighted the BBC has decided to extend my series of reflective conversations with those who influence our political thinking, now on TV as well as Radio 4 and BBC Sounds."

The first episode of the next series is out on Friday 9 May.
