Filming has commenced in West London for Channel 4 drama Pierre, starring award-winning actor David Harewood OBE (Sherwood, Homeland). Michele Austin (Hard Truths, This is Going to Hurt) joins the cast playing Charlotte Manners, Pierre’s joint managing partner of their solicitor’s firm, as well as Jason Flemyng (Pennyworth, Boiling Point) playing Pierre’s best friend DS Ronnie Miller.

The new six-part original drama is produced by The Lighthouse (Scoop) and its lead director is Sarmad Masud (You Don’t Know me, Boarders) with Jo Johnson (Adolescence, 1000 Blows) as producer.  Pierre is co-written by BAFTA-winning screenwriter and playwright, Roy Williams OBE (Soon Gone: The Windrush Chronicles, Death of England: Face to Face) and BAFTA-nominated writer John Donnelly (Summerwater, Utopia).

Also joining the ensemble cast is Dean-Charles Chapman (1917) as Danny Headman, Nikkita Chadha (Hijack) as Alecia Khan. Christopher Fairbank (Andor) as Sean Lambert, Sara Powell (Last Christmas) as Celeste Jeffreys, Pierre’s wife and Cherrelle Skeete (Hanna) as Brenda Dean.

The drama series will introduce newcomers Dylan Ennis as Eli Jeffreys and Ezrae Maye as Michael.

Pierre (Harewood) is a West London duty solicitor and a force of nature: charming and funny, juggling the pressures of his job, a fragile personal life and just keeping his head above water financially. His resilience is tested when he begins investigating the suspicious death of a young black client, Michael. As Pierre challenges the police's portrayal of Michael as a criminal, he unravels a chilling web of institutional corruption… when you come at the system, the system comes at you…

John Donnelly and Roy Williams, co-writers said “Led by the brilliant David Harewood, this talented ensemble represents the very best of British talent. Bringing warmth, wit, compassion and grit to the world of Pierre. We hope audiences will be as thrilled with our cast as we are.”

David Harewood said “I’m very excited to be embarking on this journey with such fantastic actors. There’s real warmth in the scripts and amongst the cast on Pierre and we’re all thrilled to be along for the ride.”

Gwawr Lloyd, Commissioning Editor, Drama at Channel 4 said “It’s exciting to be working with such a talented ensemble on Pierre, bringing this show’s brilliant characters to life. With the magnetic David Harewood leading the charge, this drama will be witty yet truthful, full of action and some major reveals.”

Hilary Salmon, Executive Producer at The Lighthouse, said “We’re so lucky to have attracted such a classy cast for Pierre. All tribute to the brilliant scripts, the top-class instincts of our director and producer and the talents of our casting queens, Leo Davis and Lissy Holm.”

More details will be announced in due course.
