 EXCLUSIVE

Hit comedy Mammoth will return for a third series on BBC Two and iPlayer. TV Zone understands filming is due to commence this June.

Made by BBC Studios Comedy, the hit comedy stars Mike Bubbins as PE teacher Tony Mammoth from the 70’s getting a second chance at life. Mammoth was believed to have died in an avalanche during a school trip in 1979, attempting to restart his life after miraculously returning from the dead when his body is discovered frozen in time.

Series two saw the return of Sian Gibson (Car Share, The Power of Parker) as Tony’s daughter Mel who is thinking about a career change. Joel Davison as Mel’s son Theo who celebrates a milestone birthday, Joseph Marcell (The Fresh Prince of Bel Air) as Mammoth’s long-suffering best friend Roger who takes on a new role as Tony’s fitness trainer, and John Weldon (The Tuckers) as Headteacher Mr Cowley.

Series 2 Episode 1: Following a panic attack, Tony Mammoth (briefly) decides to get healthy. At the gym, he’s confronted by his nemesis, Terry Keane. His previous traumatic experience gears him on to get revenge on Terry by signing up to a rival over-70s football team. With the help of Roger, he gets fighting fit to be ready for his day of destiny. Meanwhile, Mel decides to quit her job and follow her 'dream' - becoming a professional potter.

Series 2 Episode 2: Mammoth turns into the protective father figure when Mel goes on a date with a new man, Matthew. But he quickly starts to adore him (mainly on a whim). Whilst trying to develop the world’s strangest bromance, he takes his self-appointed role as head of PE very seriously until the pressure gets too much.

Meanwhile, Mel isn’t feeling it with Matthew, and Theo revels in his new bad-boy image.

Series 2 Episode 3: Mammoth's head teacher, Mr Cowley, is signed off with stress, and Mammoth wants him back. Meanwhile, Mel arranges a big 18th-birthday party for Theo against his wishes.

Mammoth is available now on iPlayer.
