OPE AND SIMBA CLASH AFTER THE TERRACE KISS
The heat is on! After their steamy terrace kiss, Angelista and Simba return to the Garden and can feel the tension.
She pulls Ope for a chat in the Snug and confesses to the kiss. She asks Ope how he feels.
“It doesn’t really matter how I feel,” he tells her. “You haven’t thought about my feelings prior to [the kiss]... You’re just lying to me.”
Clearly unimpressed by the accusation, Angelista rejects it and says, “You’re not going to drag it and say I’m lying.”
The conversation ends on a sour note, leading Ope to confront Simba, who is chatting to Lorenzo and Sean by the pool.
Airing his grievances about Angelista’s approach, Ope tells them, “My issue is that we had a respect thing going on… Don’t say to me ‘you’re disrespectful’ then go back on your word. If you’re not feeling me, dead it off.”
Simba defends the situation, suggesting that the issue isn't a lack of attraction toward Ope on Angelista's part.
“I think I’ve just come in and I'm just more suited to her. We’ve got more in common,” he says. “It’s not down to looks.”
“No I know it’s not,” says Ope, backing himself. “I’m a f***ing 10/10.”
Backing Angelista even more, Simba goes on, “Just from an ego perspective, she's given you a chance and you've rubbed it back in her face,” Simba says.
The tense back and forth continues with Simba delivering a final home truth for Ope, “You’re trying to have your cake and eat it bro, you had two girls, now you’ve got none.”
Once the dust settles, will the pair be able to make amends and find common ground?
How will Angelista feel about Simba having her back so publicly?
'IT'S NOT THAT DEEP' CHALLENGE CREATES SLIPPERY DIVIDE
The next day, Priya gets a text that sends shockwaves through the group.
‘Islanders, it’s time to slide into the drama and test the waters in today’s challenge, It’s Not That Deep.’
In this challenge, the Islanders must take on a slippery mini-slide. After landing in the pool, they must grab a drink and uncover a juicy secret about one of their fellow Islanders of the opposite sex.
The girls lead the charge, facing reveals such as,‘This person ranks money as the least important factor in a partner.’ They then have to throw their drink in the face of the boy they think is the culprit to see if their hunch is correct.
With revelations like ‘This boy’s nightmare partner is someone who loves attention’, ‘This boy has slept with 11 girls but can only recall 3 of their names,’ and ‘This boy’s friends would describe him as having a wandering eye,’ the girls quickly get to know the boys better.
The tables then turn as the boys try to link the spicy statements to the girls.
They react to claims including, ‘This girl once said I love you followed by her ex’s name to her boyfriend at the time,’ ‘This girl thinks it’s fine to hide how many people she’s slept with from her partner,’ and ‘This girl has been told that her red flag is leading guys on.’
The mood shifts as the boys become frustrated by some of the girls' commentary around their guesses, with some calling out the “hypocrisy”.
As the challenge wraps up, Aidan addresses the atmosphere and warns the group before they head back to the Villa, "There's going to be a little bit of tension tonight.”
AFTERMATH OF THE CHALLENGE LEAVES VILLA IN HOT WATER
That evening, a frosty atmosphere lingers in the Garden, with the rift between the boys and the girls increasingly apparent.
“The girls have no idea,” Sam remarks, while Aidan adds, “They’re trying to brush it off.”
Yet the girls seem truly baffled by the shift in the boys' attitudes. “I don’t know what we’ve done,” Mica admits.
Hoping to clear the air, several Islanders gather in the Snug but the peace-seeking mission quickly turns into a fiery exchange as the girls try to pinpoint the source of the boys' frustration.
Referring to some of the girls’ comments during the challenge, Ope says, “I feel like there’s some things that people said that don’t align with what we thought you aligned with.”
“The wandering eye thing is quite mad,” Aidan agrees. “Apparently it’s okay now?”
As the group begins talking over each other, emotions run high. Priya asks to speak, but the tension only rises, prompting Yasmin and Jasmine to walk away from the conversation.
“When a man tells me to chill out… I need to walk away,” Jasmine says as she exits.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
