JUNIOR TASKMASTER SHELVED BY CHANNEL 4 AFTER ONE SERIES

The junior spin-off from Channel 4's Taskmaster has reportedly been shelved after one series.

Taking the reigns of the hit show were Junior Taskmaster Rose Matafeo and Assistant Mike Wozniak, stepping into the roles occupied by Greg Davies and Alex Horne in the main series.

During the series, the twenty-five young heroes competed across five heats and two semi-finals before the top five players will head through to the to the Grand Final, where they will hope to become the very first Junior Taskmaster Champion and, continuing the Taskmaster tradition, have the honour of taking home a trophy of the Junior Taskmaster’s magnificent golden head.

Meanwhile, Channel 4 has announced the recommission of Taskmaster, keeping the Bafta and Rose D’Or award-winning format on the British public service broadcaster.

The deal sees Greg Davies and Alex Horne continue in their roles as the Taskmaster and his very small sidekick in six new series of the global hit series. Taskmaster’s New Year Treat, and the fan-favourite Taskmaster Champion of Champions (once there are more champions to crown) will also return. 

Plus, Channel 4 are piloting a new play-at-home gameshow, Your Time Starts Now (w/t), devised and developed by Alex Horne, creator and host of BAFTA and Rose D’Or winning Taskmaster and Andy Devonshire, founding Series Director on shows including The Apprentice, The Great British Bake Off and Taskmaster.

Set in the Taskmaster universe, the new show builds on the at-home ingenuity of earlier incarnation The Button, which Horne devised and narrated in 2018, and HomeTasking that saw Horne on a mission to entertain a world stuck in 2020’s lockdown.  

Your Time Starts Now will see UK households compete against one another while tackling a host of his typically devious tasks without ever leaving their homes. Five teams of friends and families across the UK will need to display creativity, lateral thinking, speed, knowledge and teamwork if they want to win.
