DOCTOR WHO DAY 2022: 59 YEARS OF THE BBC SERIES

23rd November. The day Doctor Who began airing on BBC One in the UK. The celebrate 59 years of Doctor Who, the BBC have been releasing some new Doctor Who news and images throughout the day.



A new logo was revealed, a 'diamond' version of the new era logo. This logo will be specifically for the 60th anniversary celebrations in 2023. Also released was a tribute trailer to Series 4, which starred David Tennant and Catherine Tate, and a special message from the two stars.



Plus new artwork featuring all the Doctors (so far) in costume, a new image of David Tennant's Fourteenth Doctor, exclusive Forbidden Planet merchandise and new action figures from Character.



The fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, will take control of the TARDIS, with his first episode airing over the festive period in 2023.



Before then, three specials will broadcast in November 2023 as part of Doctor Who's 60th Anniversary celebrations. The new episodes will premiere on the BBC and Disney+ for fans all over the world.



Talking about the future, Russell T Davies, Showrunner said: "If you thought the appearance of David Tennant was a shock, we’ve got plenty more surprises on the way!..



"The path to Ncuti’s Fifteenth Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun! And how is it connected to the return of the wonderful Donna Noble? How, what, why? We’re giving you a year to speculate, and then all hell lets loose!"

The three special episodes will transmit in November 2023 as Doctor Who celebrates its 60th anniversary.
