DOCTOR WHO: THE POWER OF THE DOCTOR

EXCLUSIVE

The Doctor Who centenary special, The Power Of The Doctor, has a provisional air date, and a new line from the synopsis has been revealed.

Airing this October, the blockbuster 90-minute special will be the final outing for Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor. The Doctor faces the ultimate battle for survival as she confronts the Daleks, Cybermen and The Master (Sacha Dhawan).

Also starring in the special are the Doctor's friends Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Dan (John Bishop) alongside former companions Tegan (Janet Fielding) and Ace (Sophie Aldred).

Plus, UNIT is back, headed up by Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave), and Vinder (Jacob Anderson) also returning. Further casting has not been revealed.

TV Zone understands The Power Of The Doctor will air on Sunday 23rd October as part of the BBC's week of centenary celebrations.

TV Zone has also obtained the following lines from, what is understood to be, the episode synopsis:

Who is attacking a bullet train on the edge of a distant galaxy?

Plus:

Who is defacing history’s most iconic paintings?

The BBC declined comment when approached by TV Zone. The date for the special has not yet been confirmed by the BBC, and the official synopsis will be released in due course.

Written by Chris Chibnall and directed by Jamie Magnus Stone, the feature-length special will air as part of the BBC’s Centenary celebrations. Strictly Come Dancing will also mark the BBC's Centenary with a special weekend dedicated to some of the BBC's most iconic shows and theme tunes.

Speaking about the episode earlier in the year, Doctor Who's Chris Chibnall said:

"Jodie’s final feature-length story contains a plethora of treats and surprises for audiences and fans, not least the return of two of the most beloved companions in the show’s history...

He continued: "They’ll be helping the Doctor fight on three fronts, against her deadliest enemies: the Master, Daleks and Cybermen, in one huge story! For the BBC’s Centenary, we’ll be celebrating the past, present and future of Doctor Who, in a fittingly thrilling, epic and emotional send-off for the Thirteenth Doctor."

Further details about The Power Of The Doctor will be revealed in due course.
