DAVID MITCHELL'S OUTSIDERS SHELVED BY UKTV AFTER THREE SERIES

UKTV have shelved David Mitchell's Outsiders after three series - but not ruled out returning to the format in the future.

The series saw David challenge a line-up of comedians to demonstrate if they will survive, thrive or epically fail, as they fend for themselves in the wild for a week to prove they have the skills to scratch together a new society in the wild.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, UKTV execs confirmed: "It is not currently returning and we have announced that. Would we look at that show again in the future? Maybe. Not currently. He loved doing it. We loved working with him. We definitely would be interested in other ideas with David Mitchell...

"We have a fantastic relationship with him. He is a stunning piece of talent. What a dreadful phrase that is. But yeah fresh new interesting ideas he is pretty busy. He is quite a difficult man to get a lunch appointment with. We never say never absolutely."
