Meerkat: A Dynasties Special, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, follows the dramatic story of a young meerkat queen, called Maghogho, on a quest to establish her Dynasty in one of the harshest places on earth.

Her kingdom is at the limit of what meerkats can endure - the empty beauty of the Makagikadi salt pans in Botswana. It’s so hot and dry here that almost nothing can survive - and yet it is here that she must raise her pups.

If she is to succeed in this desolate and extreme landscape, she will need the support of all of her family. But they - like her - are also young and inexperienced. Maghogho’s challenge is to unite and lead them as a team - before it’s too late.

Together they will face the toughest of dry seasons, immense dust storms and battles with rivals that will test their loyalties to the limit. Their future relies on the life-giving rains arriving in time to transform their desert home into a paradise, and change their fortunes for the better. Can the strength of Maghogho’s family allow them to triumph against all the odds?
