DALZIEL AND PASCOE: ITV REBOOTS BBC DETECTIVE DRAMA AS BROADCASTER PARTNERS WITH BRITBOX ON NEW ADAPTATION

ITV have announced a fresh and contemporary reimagining of beloved British detective series Dalziel and Pascoe, based on the books by Reginald Hill. ITV is the UK partner for the series which has been commissioned by BritBox.

The series centres on the relationship between seasoned detective Dalziel, and the newly qualified, by the book DS Pascoe. Despite their clashing methods, Dalziel and Pascoe work together to form a formidable partnership that is underscored by humour, heart and humanity.

Reginald Hill’s books were previously adapted into a highly successful television series, starring Warren Clarke and Colin Buchanan, which aired on the BBC for 12 series from 1996 - 2007.

Dalziel and Pascoe is co-created for television by Colette Kane (Department Q, Vera) and Daisy Martey (Vikings: Valhalla). Other writers on the series include new writing duo Chris Ryden and Jon Rowe, and Danusia Samal (Gangs of London, Bodies).

West Road Pictures is the production company launched by Jonathan Fisher in 2019. An All3Media company, West Road are the producers of Ridley for ITV, starring Adrian Dunbar. Since launching, West Road have also produced the award-winning Blood, Penance, and Hollington Drive. Dalziel and Pascoe is West Road’s fifth drama commission.

The drama will air on ITV and STV and be available for streaming on ITVX and STV Player.
