Acorn TV have commissioned a fourth series of hit detective drama Dalgliesh, with Channel 5 - who've co-produced and aired the first three series - departing the drama.

Starring Bertie Carvel as the enigmatic titular investigator and based on the best-selling murder mystery novels by PD James, Dalgliesh is produced by New Pictures (Gone, The Long Shadow) in association with All3Media International and Northern Ireland Screen.
Set in 1982, three new labyrinthine cases await for Commander Adam Dalgliesh (Carvel) to untangle with the help of his colleague DI Clive Roscoe (Sam Swainsbury).
The first installment follows the killing of an officious administrator in an experimental private psychiatric clinic, which puts each of her colleagues in the spotlight and draws light on the questionable treatment of patients.
Elaine Pyke, Co-Founder and Creative Director, New Pictures and Executive Producer of Dalgliesh said: “It’s a real pleasure returning to the world of Dalgliesh, brought to life by the brilliant Helen Edmundson and Bertie Carvel.”
Don Klees, Senior Vice President, Programming, Acorn TV adds: “We’re excited to be giving Acorn TV’s viewers three new cases to unravel with Inspector Adam Dalgliesh, whom Bertie Carvel has wonderfully brought to life these last few seasons. Dalgleish delivers exactly the type of suspenseful, character-driven drama our audience craves and we’re thrilled for it to return to our lineup of the very best in crime drama murder mystery.”
Dalgliesh Series 1-3 are available now on 5 streaming.
