The new and returning titles airing on Channel 5 this Autumn have been revealed.

All Creatures Great & Small

Based on best-selling author James Herriot’s beloved and iconic collection of stories, the critically acclaimed adaptation from Playground returns this Autumn for a series consisting of six episodes plus a Christmas Special.

The series will continue to bring the stories of James Herriot to life as we return to Darrowby to rejoin our unconventional much loved Skeldale Family and the colourful ensemble of farmers, animals and townsfolk living in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1940s.

The Forsytes

The major reimagining of John Galsworthy’s novel series The Forsyte Saga. The series chronicles the lives of four generations of an upper-class family of stockbrokers, set against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving late-Victorian world.

Sticklers for tradition and status, the older Forsytes prize duty and reputation above all else, whilst the younger members rail against the rigidity of family expectations. The question of who will take over  the family firm puts Soames Forsyte and his cousin Jolyon in conflict just as their lives are  turned upside down by the arrival of two remarkable women.  Ultimately each Forsyte family member grapples with the same dilemma – is it better to be ruled by the head or the heart?

The Rumour

Drama. Joanna (Rachel Shenton) moves with her young son, Alfie, to the quiet town of Flinstead, seeking a fresh start. However, she quickly becomes entangled in the lives of local mothers and the unsettling dynamics of the community. When Joanna stumbles upon an online rumour about a child killer living in the town, she uses it to win over the mums at the school gate.

As gossip spreads, suspicions build, and Joanna finds herself drawn into a web of secrets and paranoia. Balancing her efforts to protect her son with the growing unease in town, Joanna struggles to distinguish between truth and hearsay. With relationships strained and emotions running high, the boundaries between trust and fear blur.

Murder Before Evensong

The six-episode drama starring Matthew Lewis is based on the first novel in the series by British author the Reverend Richard Coles. Daniel (Lewis) shares Champton rectory with his widowed mother – opinionated, fearless, ever-so-slightly annoying Audrey – and his two dachshunds, Cosmo and Hilda.

When Daniel announces a plan to install a lavatory in the church, the parish is suddenly divided: as lines are drawn, long-buried secrets come dangerously close to destroying the apparent calm of the village.

Michael Palin In Venezuela

Michael will be visiting Venezuela at a crucial moment in the country’s history. It is often called the most dangerous country in South America, where soaring inflation and high murder rates have led over seven million people to flee the country in the last ten years. After a controversial election, the country is once again under the rule of the President Nicholas Maduro, and many in the West say Venezuela is becoming a totalitarian state.

But this country is also a tropical paradise, and home to the longest coastline in the Caribbean. Michael will discover that Venezuela is a country of unmatched and undiscovered natural beauty. With stunning beaches, the Andes mountains, deserts and the Amazon rainforest, it should be one of the most visited countries in the world.

Transmission details will be announced in due course.
