CELEBRITY LINGO: NO PLANS FOR SECOND SERIES ON ITV

EXCLUSIVE

Celebrity Lingo with RuPaul will not be returning to ITV this year. TV Zone understands that whilst there's no current plans for another series, however the broadcaster is not ruling out returning to the format in the future.

Celebrity Lingo was commissioned last Spring as a primetime series of the hit ITV daytime quiz, featuring famous faces aiming to win money for their chosen charities. Each episode sees three pairs of celebs go head-to-head in the fast-paced word play game, as they vie to fill in the blanks and find the missing words.

Ultimately, Celebrity Lingo struggled to find an audience after being disrupted in the schedule multiple times due to the death of The Queen. RuPaul will however return to the Lingo studio with a second series of Lingo USA, which airs on CBS in the states.

Celebrities who appeared across the series included Joel & Hannah Dommett, Alan Halsall & Andy Whyment, Andi Peters & Laura Tobin, Lulu and TV presenter Lee Juggurnauth, star couple Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton, and A Question of Sport captains Ugo Monye and Sam Quek.

There's good news however - the daytime series of Lingo with Adil Ray is set to return to ITV1 for another series after being a ratings hit, with nearly 2m viewers in the 3pm weekday slot.

The daytime series will reintroduce viewers to the unmissable game show format which sees three teams of contestants competing against each other. As the prize money soars, the contestants will risk it all in a bid to reach the End Game, where the last pair standing can double the money…but if the words escape them, they leave with nothing.

Celebrity Lingo and Lingo are available to stream now on ITVX.
