CHANNEL 4 EXPLORE THE YORKSHIRE COAST FOR NEW SERIES

Celebrating the people and landscape of England’s largest county, Yorkshire By The Sea follows the stories of everyday heroes and communities living and working in and around the spectacular Yorkshire coast.

The stunning 100-mile stretch of Yorkshire shoreline is one of Britain's most popular tourist destinations, but life here is not all about beaches, buckets and spades.

Each episode of Yorkshire By The Sea will follow locals striving and thriving to earn an honest crust on the county’s coast. It’s a place where people are passionate and proud of their communities – from the seaside resorts of Saltburn and Scarborough in the north to the shifting sands of Spurn Point in the south.

Set against a spectacular and recognisable backdrop, this brand new series is the story of everyday grafters who tell their story of life in Yorkshire by the sea.

Living alongside the fast-eroding coastline makes every day a challenge and the series also explores how the county is combating climate change through new innovation and industry, and how local folk are diversifying to ensure they can still earn a living working land and sea. As some locals fight to save their industries, others start new ventures, and some fight to protect coastline’s epic wildlife.

Jasper Hone said: “This beautiful series will showcase the breath-taking landscape of the Yorkshire coastline, but also show how communities are facing - and tackling - the impact of the climate crisis in their daily lives.”

Executive Producer for True North, Christian Hills, adds: “We’re clearly biased, but this series combines the most glorious coastal landscape with the warmth and wit of genuine Yorkshire characters, telling their fascinating stories in their own words.”

Jasper Hone commissioned Yorkshire By The Sea (4x60’) with Channel 4’s Head of Lifestyle & Glasgow Hub, Jo Street.
