VARDY V ROONEY: FIRST LOOK IMAGES FROM UPCOMING CHANNEL 4 DRAMA

Channel 4 has released images and a short trail offering a first look at the new drama Vardy V Rooney: A Courtroom Drama which is set to air on the channel in December.

The released photos and trail show BAFTA-winning actress Chanel Cresswell (This is England, Trolled) as Coleen Rooney and Natalia Tena (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, 10.000KM) as Rebekah Vardy as they go head-to-head in this summer’s High Court trial.

Award-winning actor Michael Sheen (Good Omens, Quiz) can be seen in wig and gown, playing Coleen Rooney’s high profile barrister David Sherborne alongside Simon Coury (The Professor and the Madman) who plays Rebekah’s barrister, Hugh Tomlinson QC (now KC).

Also released for the first time are images of the actors taking on the roles of Vardy and Rooney’s famous footballer husbands who accompanied them to court. Dion Lloyd plays Wayne Rooney and Márton Nagyszokolyai takes the role of Jamie Vardy.

Dubbed the #WagathaChristie case when it first unfolded on social media in 2019, the audacious case made headlines around the world.

The two-part film recreates the high drama, high stakes High Court defamation case that followed, a case that had a huge impact on the lives of the two women at its heart and catapulted the two sparring legal teams into the spotlight, where much like Rooney and Vardy, their every move in the courtroom was dissected and scrutinised in the press.

Created from the real court transcripts, Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama will bring viewers all of the incredible and unbelievable moments from a case that kept the public and media gripped.
