CELEBRITY SAVE OUR SPERM: CHANNEL 4 COMMISSION FERTILITY SPECIAL
Channel 4 have commissioned a new 1x60' special from Crackit Productions which will investigate the decline of male fertility.
Celebrity Save Our Sperm (w/t), hosted by Embarrassing Bodies star Dr Anand Patel (pictured) will follow celebs Melvin Odoom, Russell Kane and Ollie Locke undergoing treatment.
The three celebrities will undergo a series of experiments over eight weeks to improve their sperm quality and share their own reasons for taking part in the treatments.
The programme examines research that suggests male sperm count has dropped 59% over the last 40 years in western countries and is at risk of hitting zero by 2045. The one-off will investigate whether sperm count can be improved over several months through lifestyle changes.
Channel 4's Clemency Green said: "Male fertility is such an important subject that is rarely discussed and I’m full of admiration for Ollie, Melvin and Russell who are helping us break taboos by opening up the conversation and putting their own fertility under the microscope."
Crackit's Elaine Hackett said: "Often we think fertility issues revolve around women, but male sperm count is falling at an alarming rate...
"Ollie, Russell and Melvin have got balls to take part in this one-off event as – alongside the good science – it’s deliberately designed to be surprising to put saving sperm in the spotlight."
Broadcast details will be revealed in due course.
