Channel 4 have commissioned a new reality series which will see a group of celebrities experience the life of a prisoner.
The series, which is expected to air on Channel 4 later this year, will be set in a former prison and will aim to recreate the prison experience as authentically as possible for celebrities of all walks of life.
The Sun reports that - in order to make it as authentic as possible - it will be a single-sex prison. It's reported that the series will focus on male celebrities at first.
An insider told The Sun: "The idea behind the show is it gives people who might have zero experience of prison life, or the criminal justice system in general, a taste of just what it is like...
"That could include celebs from a walk of life where they’ve looked at incarceration from a different angle, whether they are ex-police officers, politicians, or actors who have played crooks but never actually been banged up...
"They’re expecting it to be a tough watch and a tough endurance test for those taking part, but the fact it is so challenging is part of its appeal." The Sun reports that a pilot has been filmed, with casting now underway for the main series.
More details will be revealed in due course.
