THE BURNING GIRLS: CASTING AND FIRST LOOK AT NEW PARAMOUNT+ DRAMA

Paramount+ commission of new six-part drama The Burning Girls, based on the novel of the same name by CJ Tudor. The series stars Samantha Morton, Ruby Stokes, Conrad Khan, Paul Bradley and Janie Dee among others.

Chapel Croft is a village haunted by a dark and turbulent history. Five hundred years ago, Protestant martyrs – including two young girls – were betrayed and burned at the stake.

Thirty years ago, two teenage girls disappeared without a trace. And a few weeks ago, the vicar of the local parish hanged himself in the nave of the church. Now, Jack Brooks, a female vicar and single mum to 15-year-old daughter Flo, arrives in Chapel Croft in the hope of a fresh start.

However, instead of finding peace in their new home, Jack finds the village rife with conspiracies and secrets, and uncovering the truth can be deadly in a community with a bloody past, where everyone has something to hide.

Samantha Morton said: “I was immediately drawn to this character-led script, brought to life by a wonderfully talented and dedicated cast. On the surface The Burning Girls is about community, but underneath it’s every man for themselves. Untangling this intricate web was an absolute thrill.”

Ruby Stokes commented “It was a pleasure working with such a talented and dedicated cast and crew. A personal highlight; playing opposite Sam whom I greatly admire.”

The series is written by Hans Rosenfeldt, who will be joined by Camilla Ahlgren. Paramount+ launches in the UK later this year.
