Award winning comedy Black Ops, made by BBC Studios Comedy for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, will return for series three.

Chaotic but lovable duo Dom (Gbemisola Ikumelo) and Kay (Hammed Animashaun) are back, and they’ve been given their first undercover mission by MI5, with Dom as leader and Kay her undercover ‘asset’.
Their mission: to uncover the identities of a secretive far-right terror group via a shady museum director selling off artefacts to fund them. But a figure from Kay’s past – a past he’d rather forget – resurfaces threatening the mission and Dom and Kay’s friendship.
The pair once again battle to keep the nation safe in a high-wire caper taking in billionaires, a windsurfing incident and an impromptu trip to the Peak District.
Gbemisola Ikumelo says: “We’re back again and I’m so excited to step back into Dom’s shoes for series three and to share what shenanigans she gets up to. It’s such a gift to be creating the third iteration of this show, as we are all a well-oiled team of creatives now, who genuinely love and respect these characters and the world of Black Ops. We can’t wait to get started!”
Akemnji Ndifornyen says: “Three is the magic number, apparently, so we’re happy to bring the show back for a third run! From community support officers to MI5, whatever could be next for Dom and Kay? Two things are for sure though, it’s going to be a chaotic ride full of well-meaning blunders and, of course, Tevin will be keeping watch!"
Jon Petrie, BBC Director of Comedy says: “Across its first two series, Black Ops has picked up critical acclaim, awards and a very loyal army of fans. Dom and Kay’s chaotic brilliance has clearly struck a chord, and Gbemisola, Akemnji, Joe and Lloyd keep pushing the show into bold, surprising and properly funny places. We’re so pleased to bring it back for a third series. It’s sharp, fearless, and exactly the kind of comedy we’re proud to back on the BBC.”
Co-creators and lead writers, Joe Tucker and Lloyd Woolf, said: “Some people are just a magnet for drama. That includes Dom and Kay, who find themselves neck-deep once again – in new and exciting ways that fully validate a third series. We’re delighted to be getting the Black Ops band back together and can’t wait to share the results!”
Black Ops is a multi-award-winning show, with Gbemisola taking home a 2024 BAFTA Television Award for Best Female Comedy Performance and the 2024 RTS award for Best Comedy Performance (Female), while Hammed won Best Comedy Performance (Male). Series one also won Best Comedy at the 2024 Broadcast Awards.
It will be filmed in Manchester and the North West, and set across London and the North West.
Black Ops (6x30’) is a BBC Studios Comedy production, co-produced with Mondo Deluxe, Cool Story, and Swagbag Productions for BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
