US chat show host Jimmy Kimmel is to share a personal message with the nation in The Alternative Christmas message airing on Channel 4 this Christmas Day.

Jimmy Kimmel has had quite a year. The US chat show host was briefly taken off the air in September 2025 following comments made in the wake of the murder of Charlie Kirk, leading to widespread protest and debate in the USA about freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
Following his return to air and his much-publicised criticism of the US administration, Kimmel will reflect on the past few months in a deeply personal and characteristically jovial address.
Jimmy will say, “From a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year.”
Kimmel’s address follows in the tradition of other topical presenters delivering The Alternative Christmas Message, including the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; whistle-blower Edward Snowden; and Afghan war veteran Major Andrew Stockton.
First airing in 1993, Channel 4's Alternative Christmas Message has served as an alternative to the monarch's annual televised address to the nation to bring viewers a thought-provoking and often very personal reflection that is pertinent to the events of the past year. The message comes at the end of a year when US politics has featured heavily in news and current affairs programming across Channel 4 and other UK broadcasters.
The Alternative Christmas Message watch or stream on Channel 4 from 5:45pm on Christmas Day.
