Here’s a round-up of the latest seven-day consolidated ratings for week 27 December 2021 – 02 January 2022. Figures are courtesy of BARB, and include those who watched live and those who watched within a seven-day period on catch-up.

BBC One welcomed in 2022 with special programme ‘Happy New Year Live’, which was watched by 10,109,621 people from 11:59pm on New Year’s Eve.

Drama dominated the week. Stripped drama A Very British Scandal concluded with its final two episodes coming in with 4,683,000 on Monday and 4,274,000 on Tuesday.

Call The Midwife returned to BBC One for its eleventh series, launching with a strong 7,369,639 on Sunday night. The weekend also saw brand new drama The Tourist launch with 8,694,349 on Saturday night, followed by 7,138,295 for its second episode on Sunday night.

On ITV, the Masked Singer returned with a double-bill weekend. Episode one was watched by 5,210,249 people, followed by episode two the day after with 4,957,142 viewers. Monday’s hour long Coronation Street was ITV’s most watched show of the week with 5,236,178 viewers.

The Voice Kids returned for brand new series with new coach Melanie C. The three-part series had 2.68m, 2.84m and 2.76m for each of its episodes respectively.

On Channel 4, just under 3.6m people watched Gogglebox’s annual festive special on Sunday night. The Great Pottery Throwdown returned with 2,430,162 viewers, whilst 2.7m watched the New Year special of The Great British Bake Off. Also that week, Joe Lycett’s Travel Man was watched by 2,230,834 viewers and Taskmaster’s New Year Treat was watched by 2,128,010 viewers.

Channel 5’s week was dominated by World’s Strongest Man.
