7-DAY RATINGS OVERVIEW: 13-19 DECEMBER 2021

Here’s a round-up of the latest seven-day consolidated ratings for week 13-19 December 2021. Figures are courtesy of BARB, and include those who watched live and those who watched within a seven-day period on catch-up.



Strictly Come Dancing 2021 ended with a high of 12,186,466 viewers tuning in for the live final on Saturday 18th December. Just before the final, the BBC rebooted The Weakest Link with new host Romesh Ranganathan, which was watched by 5,083,669 viewers – the ninth most watched show of the week across all channels.



After Strictly, The Wheel continued with 5,622,825 viewers. On Sunday night, new four-part BBC drama The Girl Before launched with a healthy 5,620,327 viewers.


Coronation Street and Emmerdale dominated the week for ITV, with Corrie’s highest rating episode attracting 5.27m viewers on Thursday night. Emmerdale’s highest rating episode was Thursday with 4,866,031.



It was a week of musical talent on ITV, however new musical gameshow Walk The Line failed to make an impact. The second episode on Monday night scored 2,368,000 viewers. The week continued with 2.05m, 2.23m, 2.07 and 2.2m for Tuesday through to Friday respectively.


Alan Carr hosted the annual Royal Variety Performance on Sunday night on ITV. This become ITV’s eighth most watched show of the week (only behind the soaps) and was watched by just over 4.5m viewers. On Monday night at 7pm, Labour Leader Keir Starmer’s response to Boris Johnson’s statement the night before was watched by 3.4m on ITV alone.
